An extremely rare “fazzoletto” lamp by La Murrina, handcrafted by master glassmakers in Murano. This piece is best understood as a functional sculpture rather than a conventional lighting object, reflecting the extraordinary level of skill required to shape molten glass into such fluid, textile-like form.
The design consists of two entirely hand-blown glass elements, both enriched with delicate air bubbles and soft opalescent detailing that ripple through the body and shade. “Fazzoletto,” meaning handkerchief in Italian, refers to the beautifully draped appearance of the glass, a form that appears to fold and fall like fabric despite being solid material—an effect only achieved through highly skilled Murano craftsmanship.
The lamp also features a dual-light system, allowing independent control of bulbs within the glass body and beneath the shade, giving the user the option of layered or ambient illumination depending on the setting.
La Murrina began in the 1960s as a small Murano furnace run by master glassmakers producing limited blown-glass works. In 1974, ownership shifted to a Milan-based family involved in glass and metal lighting production, transforming it into a structured company. The La Murrina trademark was registered internationally, and by 2000 the brand began collaborating with designers and architects, blending contemporary design with centuries-old Murano techniques.
A striking collector’s piece, this lamp brings together sculpture, craftsmanship, and atmospheric lighting—equally at home in traditional, mid-century, or modern interiors.
Socket, Plug Type & Voltage
This product is fitted with a Type I plug, standard in New Zealand, Australia, China, Argentina, and Papua New Guinea, and is wired for 220–240V power supply.
If you are purchasing from another country, a universal plug adapter may be suitable where the local voltage is compatible with 220–240V systems. In countries using lower voltage systems, professional rewiring, a compatible transformer, or installation by a licensed electrician may be required.
We recommend consulting a qualified electrician before installation to ensure compatibility with your local electrical standards and safety requirements.
